This is a shock.
Even though everything after their uber-album Jilted Generation could not really ramp up my enthusiasm, this is pretty sad. I was just reconnecting, pulling out the old stuff, viewing some life gigs, getting ready to give the "newer" stuff another chance. And by that I mean everything, including "Smack My Bitch Up" which always paled compared to it's predecessor in my ears.
The Prodigy clearly were the loudest gig I have ever been to. Moby was opening, and he was already extremely loud as far as I was concerned. But then The Prodigy ...
I did not see much, nor was I able to enjoy the gig, it was just too loud. It it's deninetely memorable.
And The Jilted Generation made a huuuge impression on me at the time. Today I need to be in the mood, because of the energy and also because I grow tired of such loop oriented stuff pretty quickly, but it's still mindblowing when in the right state of mind.
And turned up really loud
it's still a force to be reconned with.
And Charly (from the debut) ... is still as much fun today as it was back then.
On my way home from work I celebrated listening Jilted. With maximum bass and volume. It was awesome. Ironically the very loop oriented Speedway was my absolute favourite, it's so fast
. But after that ... the album could have ended with that one and I would not have minded.
