Font Awesome causing problems ONLY in Firefox

Hello,

I am sitting here with a huge ??? in my brain. I just found why we are having such a disagreement regarding the hubzilla.org site - the font awesome icons do work in all browsers (Google Chrome, Chromium, Konqueror. except Firefox.
This has caused quite some confusion because I had seen it working and did not investigate further, as - yes, it is working.

Therefore the reason just simply cannot be that there are still missing references to the old github repo, I had eliminated those quite a looong time ago.

I intended to resolve the issue by creating a new page but that is taking much longer due to the horizontal menu bug that I have not yet found a solution to make it work. I am not a webdev, despite some basic detour almost 10 years ago I am almost starting new here.

The webfonts return a 404 File not Found in Firefox. It tries to load them from

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/anaqreon/hubzilla-website/master/assets/vendor/font-awesome/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff

The links are in the inline stylesheet in head.

It may be true but I'm not seeing that double chevron in any of my browsers, right now.

It may be better to serve font-awesome locally. Requiring connections to github could break the site for privacy conscious browsers.

@Klaus thanks, I will test and change that. That surely was what I was missing.
@Grouchy I am not going to change that now. I want to rebuild the site with HZ only tools. This will be a challenge for me but I will take it. I don't know why this had not been done as font awesome / fork awesome is included in HZ. I am now changing the links to framagit, which certainly is better than github. :)

The project itself is not using font-awesome anymore. We are using fork-awesome now. I guess you probably need to change this in the css font definition also...

Yes, I know. But no, the woff file is at framagit and linked. Just FF does ignore that. Found that FF may block externally hosted file. Not sure how reliable that was. Also not sure why Andrew chose to use that external file. Maybe that file is blocked by HZ for webpage embedding?
Will try. Or maybe serve it from a new subdomain.

Looks like you found the answer @h.ear.t . It is trying to load a file from a site that no longer exists (my old GitHub repo). Your other browsers may simply be using a cached version of that file perhaps.

You likely don't have the time to do it yourself, but I think it's time the project page was not only updated, but migrated back to the form of a traditional webpage for easier updating and maintenance. To be clear, I am arguably the second strongest advocate of the Hubzilla webpage elements system (behind Mike who created it, obviously), since as far as I can tell I'm one of the only people in the world since it was created years ago that has actually made a website using the system. But even to a supporter like myself, this indicates that perhaps while it has amazing potential, the webpage element system is not important enough yet to drain the time of the Hubzilla project's meager resources. There are "bigger fish to fry".

I have corrected the URLs that I missed to framagit but it's still not loaded. I can rule out browser caches as the system is newer. Well, anyway. I nowneed to get the font to load.

But you are wrong about nobody is using the CMS feature! It's slowly coming but I notice interest and at least one site may be already up. @Tanja

OK. Issue resolved, though just quick and dirty. I simply linked the webfont from our library, it did work. I tried that for my personal project a long time ago and it did not work, access was blocked. Hm. Kay.
Glad it works now and I can focus on re-doing it.
Will still do some polish etc.
